GREAT GULL ISLAND

Great Gull Island Project (www.greatgullisland.org)

Thursday, June 28, 2012

This year the colony nested earlier and in a more synchronized peak than in any year we have worked on Great Gull Island. More birds nested in the early peak - over 5,000 pairs, than in any previous season. Most of the nests were marked by crews on Memorial Day weekend, May 25 -28 and June 1-3. And most of these hatched by June 19. Over 8,000 chicks were banded by June 24. The season has been very busy so far.

The pictures will be posted soon!
